Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN)                     $25

The Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN) is a unique identification number that the Library of Congress assigns to titles most likely to be acquired by the Library of Congress. You apply for the LCCN prior to publication.

Librarians use the LCCN to access the associated bibliographic record in the Library of Congress’s database or to obtain information on various book titles in other databases.

The Process

River Sanctuary Publishing submits an online application to obtain LCCN numbers on behalf of our authors who wish to have an LCCN assigned to their book.

The Library of Congress provides the LCCN to us by email, which is is then printed on the copyright page in the following format:

Library of Congress Control Number:   2001012345 (example)

Immediately upon publication, River Sanctuary Publishing mails a copy of the book to the Library of Congress.

The Library of Congress charges no fee for this service. Our fee (above) covers the time involved to submit the online application, and the cost of printing and shipping a final copy of the book to the Library of Congress.
