Getting Started!
Step 1: Take some time to look over the RSP website. Be sure you review the “Book Options & Enhancements” to get an idea of the services offered. You might want to glance at the FAQs (Frequently asked questions). That will give you some basic answers to questions you might have. Step 2: Review the “My Book Worksheet” to get an idea of what you need to have completed for your book before you go to print. Study the “Print Costs and Profits” to understand how RSP calculates your profits through various methods of selling your book. (Suggestion: The print cost per copy is the most important piece of information for an author to know! There are quickie POD companies out there, but you’ll find that they withhold that information until the author has signed on, only to discover that this cost is outrageously high. Be informed before you choose!) Step 3: Call or write us to have a conversation to determine the readiness of your book for publication. If your book is essentially ready for publication, RSP will review a representative sample of your work and determine the suitability of your work for publication with RSP. If RSP wishes to consider your work further for publication with us, but has concerns about the quality of the work (e.g., that it is error-free and contains correct grammar/punctuation usage), we may suggest a complete manuscript review. You will receive a comprehensive report with recommendations on the quality and readiness of the work. (The fee for this service is $100 which will be applied toward your design cost should we reach a mutual agreement for publishing your project). Step 4: If RSP has expressed an interest in publishing your project, and you are interested in publishing with us, a publishing packet will be mailed to you. Review the “Book Options & Enhancements” (in the packet or on the website) and consider the level of design options you desire for your book’s cover and interior. It’s time now for an intensive conversation to determine the ideal pricing for completion of your work to the standard you desire. If your project is ready to go, we will likely be able to complete the cover design and typesetting of your work within 2-3 weeks. Step 5: Read through the Publishing Agreement and note any questions you might have. Call for clarification of anything that is of concern to you. Step 6: Provide a prepayment of 50% of the publishing fee* (through Paypal or check), and mail the signed “Publishing Agreement” to: River Sanctuary Publishing (We will countersign the agreement and send a copy back to you) *Note: The balance of payment is due at the time your file is ready to upload for printing.
